The Piña Colada's Origin Story

The PIÑA COLADA's Origin Story ✨🍹

The Piña Colada's roots trace back to Puerto Rico, where it was first concocted in the 1950s.  That certainly isn’t stopping us in Broomfield, Colorado to make this creamy goodness here.

The name itself translates to "strained pineapple," referencing the fresh pineapple juice that is a key ingredient.

Its creator, Ramón "Monchito" Marrero, crafted this cocktail at the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan, aiming to capture the flavors and spirit of the island in a single glass

Ingredients

* 2 ounces white rum
* 4 ounces pineapple juice
* 2 ounces cream of coconut
* 1 cup crushed ice
* Pineapple slice and maraschino cherry for garnish (optional)

Instructions

✨ 1. Prepare Your Blender: Start by chilling your blender jug or glass in the freezer for a few minutes.  This helps keep your Piña Colada nice and cold.

2. Blend the Ingredients: Add 2 ounces of white rum, 4 ounces of pineapple juice, and 2 ounces of Coco Lopez cream of coconut to the blender.

3. Add Ice: Toss in about a cup of crushed ice.  The ice gives the drink its signature frosty texture.

4. Blend Until Smooth: Blend everything together until smooth and creamy.  You want a consistency that's thick enough to sip through a straw but not too thin.

5. Serve: Pour your freshly blended Piña Colada into a chilled glass.  If you like, garnish with a slice of pineapple and a maraschino cherry on top for that extra touch of tropical flair.

6. Enjoy: Find a cozy spot staring at the beautiful Flatirons of Colorado, kick back, and savor the creamy coconut and sweet pineapple flavors. ✨

Indulge in this classic Piña Colada recipe whenever you need a taste of the tropics or want to impress guests with a refreshing and easy-to-make cocktail.  Cheers to enjoying a bit of paradise wherever you are!
